Elicina Crema de Caracol Snail Cream claims to treat a very wide variety of skin problems including:

Wrinkles , scars, warts, acne blemishes, burns, queloids, age spots and even stretch marks.

These claims may seem a bit broad for any product but the manufacturer claims that its product has a powerful active ingredient – snail secretion. The product is actually 80% comprised of this special ingredient.

The maker claims the creme is also natural and organic, as well as hypoallergenic so even consumers with sensitive skin or who are allergy prone can use it safely.

The product was first created in Chile (and the company is based there) where experimentation with snail secretions indicated that it was quite effective at treating a variety of skin ailments. In addition to the conditions noted above, it was also effective at making skin softer and improved the time it took wounds to heal while preventing infection and scarring.

It is known to absorb rapidly into the skin and leaves no residue, unlike some other products. It also won’t stain your clothes so you don’t have to worry about dressing afterwards.

In addition to its main ingredient, it also includes some notable compounds, they are:

  • Collagen and Elastin – Required by your skin to improve elasticity and resist the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. These are useful as our bodies decrease their production as a natural part of aging.
  • Antibiotic peptides – These assist in getting rid of any bacteria that may be on the skin’s surface contributing to skin aging or damage.
  • Glycolic acid – Helps with mild skin exfoliating so that epidermal cells (top layer) can be more quickly replaced.
  • This product has no moisturizing ingredient for skin hydration. If you tried a product like this it would probably be best to apply a moisturizer after using the cream. It does seems difficult to believe that a single cream could solve all of the skin conditions the manufacturer mentions. Snail extracts do include the compound ‘allantoin’, which is known for its soothing and healing properties, but it may be a stretch to believe this single product will solve all those conditions.

Claims that are too broad can really end up hurting the product’s reputation. The company may have been better off focusing on the areas where their customers seem to report the most success.

    Pluses for the product:
    Organic and hypoallergenic
    Proven wound healing properties
Comparatively cheaper than other anti wrinkle creams

    Negatives:
Its claims seem too numerous for consumers to trust
It’s anti-aging benefits are not the main product focus
    No moisturizing ingredients

    Price: $35.99
